My Mission Statement

As an educator I am trying to develop respectful and goal oriented students through my teaching. I believe that if students learn how to really work for something they want that in the end they will be better people than if it is just giving to them. Students should be given guidance towards their goals, but it is important that they obtain them on their own.

Interesting thought....how do you plan on accomplishing this? Are you a lead by example person?

I think your point is important. Encouraging students to be responsible is an important lifeskill.

I think that you're right. It's important that the learners want to learn and acheive their goals on their own, however, for some students they need a little jumpstart. How do you go about making that student who doesn't want to learn reach for their goals? The unmotivated learner is always a tough one.

I agree. Independence is essential to becoming a 'real' person... ask Pinocchio.
